Steamed Coconut Fish in Banana Leaves - Nga Baung Doke

INGREDIENTS

1 kg

1 cup

3 cloves

1 tablespoon

1 tablespoon

1 teaspoon

1/2 teaspoon

1/2 teaspoon

2 teaspoons

2 teaspoons

 

fish fillets

desiccated coconut

garlic

fresh finger, finely grated

toasted sesame seeds

chicken stock

ground turmeric

ground black pepper

rice flour

fresh coriander leaves, chopped

juice of 1 lemon

banana leaves for wrapping

 

 

 

METHOD
  • Clean and dry fish fillets and cut into bites size pieces. In a blender, put the coconut,  garlic, ginger and 1/2 cup of water in  a blender container and blend till coconut is finely ground. Mix the coconut and other seasoning and mix well.
  • Put 2-3 pieces of  fish fillets on a banana leaves, top with 2 teaspoons of coconut mixture and wrap. Repeat to wrap all fish fillets and arrange in a steaming plate.
  • In a wok heat water to boil and put the plate of fish fillets to steam for 10 minutes.
  • Serve hot with rice.
