 Meat Curry with Vegetable - Meat Recipes

braising steak

vegetable oil

large onion, finely sliced

cloves

green cardamom pods

dried chili, seeded and crushed

garlic

ground coriander

turmeric

tamarind water

lettuce leaves for garnish

young ginger, grated

 

 

METHOD
  • Wash and cut beef into cubes. In a wok, heat oil till hot and add beef and fry until brown all over. Remove beef from wok and set aside.

  • In the same wok, add onion, cloves and cardamom pods and fry for 10 minutes. Add in ginger, garlic, coriander and turmeric and fry for 2 minutes.

  • Return beef to wok and add 1/2 cup of water, cover and simmer for 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Add in tamarind water, salt to taste, cover and simmer for another 20 minutes. When beef  is tender, serve with lettuce leaves.
